Bawoon?

Kai's TALKING! No everything he says is "obvious" yet, but when he points to a balloon and says "bawoon," I think we're on the right track. He's been pointing to things like birds and signing the word (thank goodness I learned that one and did it whenever he pointed to the birds on the wall in his room).

Here's a list of other words he's saying (or at the very least signing):
  • More
  • Please
  • Cosmo
  • Balloon
  • Bird
  • uh oh
  • Oh man (at least it's not "oh s&!%", which is what it was a few weeks ago...)
  • Sleep
  • Doggie
  • Where?
  • Hear that? (like when he hears a plane or truck and wants to make sure you heard it, too)
  • All Done
  • Mommy
  • Daddy

And he'll "sing" along to Itsy Bitsy Spider and the ABC song. We're getting there. Now, if I could just get him to say "Why yes, Mummy, I'd love some more mouthwatering, nutritious and highly caloric food you've prepared especially for me. And thank you!" A mother can dream...

Annual Visit to the CONN

So we're going way back in the archives of photos, but unfortunately, I let the blog get out of hand (again!) When will I learn?

Anyway, here are pictures and videos from July 2008, when some of our high school friends came to the CONN to visit us (next year, we think we're going to meet at a more central location and invite more friends!). One family came from Cleveland, another family came from Boston, and one couple came from NYC (Aniq finally moved to the East Coast!!)

Kids got to play with cars and balloons and books. Adults got to play with cornhole, poker, and taboo. Fun for all!

Summer's Out, School's In!

Can you believe summer's over already? School's been back in session in CT for a week now! I was just getting used to the warm weather and mornings at the beach in my bikini! I'm going to have to get used to wearing jeans instead of shorts and tennis shoes instead of flip-flops. Ugh!

But at least we have some great memories of summer. Here is an album chock full of pictures and videos of how we kept busy this summer (and they're mostly just from July!)

Picasa's WebAlbums changed the way they'll let you put a link into blogs. So, it's a slideshow from here on out. If you doubleclick on a picture or video, it'll open a new window and you'll be able to see them in a larger format, where videos will automatically play for you. There are quite a few videos in this album, so I hope you'll be able to see them.

Enjoy....

Amazing Muno Memory

Watching Kai learn and remember lately has been pretty amazing. Like when we watch Yo Gabba Gabba, he has to go and get his Muno doll (thanks to Tito Tom and Tita Michelle for that!).

(Picture taken in June, but you get the idea!)

Yesterday he got his clothes wet playing with the hose while I was giving Cosmo an outside bath (thank goodness for warm weather, when it's easier to wash Cosmo outside), so I took his clothes off and then brought him in the house. On the way in the house, he saw his nipples and pointed to them. I told him "Those are your nipples. One nipple, two nipples." He's been very big on pointing to things in books lately and "asking" me to tell him what they are. Or, if RJ or I are not around, he'll point to things in a book himself and "say" what they are. So this morning, when he saw me changing and saw my nipples, he pointed to them. I said, "Those are mommy's nipples. One nipple, two nipples." Then he pointed to his own chest, approximately where his nipples would be (he was wearing his pjs) and then when he couldn't see them, tried to look down the front of his pjs to see them!
